I ended up being in the signal core stationed at Bien Tuy Army/Navy air field (the delta) in 1971. I could tell lots of intresting/sad tales, but who would care to listen. However, I am happy to say NOT once did I fire my M16 or M6o during my stay in Viet Nam, I was in the Signal Core, I just had to pull perimeter guard every 4th day.

I was happy to NOT find the names of 3 buddies (Graham Bowels, Little n Rapper) on the wall, 3 dudes I was once stationed with n lost track of some 3o years ago.
What a site the wall is, even scaled down, it is BIG............ Ifin
I remember correctly, some
58, ooo names/deaths R represented by this wall..... A sobering way
to end my flight to day to say the least.
Since I was obviously one of the lucky ones that could move on, I too felt a tad bit of guilt as I strapped in to Nina n prepared to wind her up and depart the Viet Nam memorial this morning. But they say that survivors guilt is a normal reaction for most. However, for a teen of the mid 60s who's favorite TV show perhaps was "TW3", (a political/current events satire) I knew I was gonna get drafted sooner or later. This Bing the case, I decided to enlistment so I wouldn't need to tote a gun, but didn't sign on the the dotted line until I got my special invite (draft notice) in the mail some 6 months after I started the enlistment process. Anyway, I paid, I needed to commit my self to the Army for an extra 12 months in order to ensure that I didn't have a Army job that required me to tote a gun on a regular basis, so not to much guilt for this boy now or than, but some..........
