It turned out to be a 561 mile trek from my hangar (Glenn's garage) in eastern Pa to Homer's corn n bean field near Hillsboro Ohio. The trek took a tad over 12 hours, all of which was almost non stop driving, all the while me being perched up on Glenn's crappie - open trailer...

We rolled into Homers field either at 4:20am Friday or 5:20am, can't recall. Just as my pilot found his parking spot across the field from Homers barn we both notice the lights in side the apartment the Bell's have built in the barn switch on. Next thing we know, Homer pulls up in his golf cart next to the car n trailer, gives him a ride to the barn as I sit in the morning dew.

After a half hour or so, my pilot returns, reclines the drivers seat n pops off for a long nap since is is still dark. What seemed a  short time later, just as we both were falling off for a needed rest, we hear a set of whirling wings winding up breaking the early hazy dawn tranquility, it was Homer heading out to breakfast with his helicopter. The above foto was taken as Homer returns from his breakfast meeting with his fellow farmers an hour or so later. Yes, my pilot is the type that will pop up out is a sound sleep, grab a camera  just so he can snap a foto of a passing helicopter. He is so much a helicopter devotee that at home he often keeps his 8mm video camera ready just in order to capture the sounds of over flying helicopters..................... Sick isn't he.............

This foto was taken Friday. Seems Homer always parks  his bird across the road and operates from his own portable heli pad which also doubles as a trailer.

Here is our host giving us drivers a few words of wisdom n caution during our first day.

N here U  C Homer's progress on his Heli Cycle, looks pretty good so far doesn't it.
Here they are putting Homer's bird in the barn early Sunday morning. His logic was ifin he puts her in, it shouldn't rain, well, it didn't rain much, but I too got to hide in the barn for a hour or so just before my driver removed my blades n loaded me up on that God forsaken open trailer.
