Thank You-Thank You-Thank You-Thank You-Thank You-Thank You-Thank You-Thank You-Thank You-Thank You.....................................................................Thank You-Thank You-Thank You-Thank You-Thank You-Thank You-Thank You-Thank You-Thank You-Thank You
If you're purchasing a book from Amazon, now or in the future, by clicking thru SHnPGIE, we will get a small commission which will help maintain n perhaps allow us to cover additional helicoptering events, thus giving YOU more good stuff to read n fotos to dream on.
THANK YOU

As most of you know, sound files are even bigger than foto files. This being the case, I suggest AFTER finishing reading this short paragraph you double click on the little helicopter below. After the double click, your computer will contact my computer. If  it's like mine, a window will first pop up asking you to save or open the file. I suggest you choose open (feel free to save later if you want). After making ether choice, your computer may show you a loading status window. I suggest you take your mouse pointer n click on the page any place other than the loading status window. This should minimize the window and allow you to read the text n view the fotos, thus occupying your time as you wait for the sound file to load. Once the sound file is finished loading a sound player window should pop up.......

FYI  IP = Instructor Pilot

Kompress Start Up 653kb - 30 Sec
.
The Instructor, Ige Barbero waits out side as the student starts up the Kompress's Rotax 914 Turbo Charged Power Plant.
Looking in the upper left corner, you will notice the 2 RPM needles comming off the bottom pegs as the Kompress comes to life.
Ige Barbero, actually the president and one of the 4 owners of  HeliSport climbs in an straps him self in with a 4 point hitch. Obviously, Mr. Barbero is one of the reputable manufactures that believes in his helicopter enough to not only take her up to altitude, the day I was there (Nov. 14, 1998) he spent a minimum of 6 hours giving dual instruction in his sporty n powerful craft.
.
.
Here Mr. Barbero n the student have lowered  the Kompress's almost perfect canopy. It seems Mr. Barbero has now changed from being the president of a company (he once told me their company's goal was to be to small helicopters what Ferrari is to the sports cars industry) to helicopter IP and in this foto seems to be giving a few last minute instructions to the student as the Kompress comes up to temp.
.
I have only flown the Kompress once, n that was for only 15 to 20 minuets, so my memory may not be 1oo% with the following starting procedure.

After completing other procedures:
1st    Both Mag Off - Starter Engaged
2nd   After electric starter is spinning the engine n rotors smoothly, One Mag Switched On
3rd    Release Spring Loaded Starter Switch
4th    Switch On Second Mag
5th    When 914 is running smoothly, Rotate Throttle to bring Engine RPM up to 8o%
6th    When All Gages are In the Green, Engage Electronic Governor
