I took Pops for a hike this morning, just 3 feet (1m) in front of his toes
in the above foto is a 1,000 to 2,000 (315 to 630m) near vertical drop
to the valley flow below. Looking across seems to be a 1/2 mile (812m)
or so.
Above is a shot looking off to my dad's right (above foto). Behind the
tree on the right is the ocean about 10 miles (16km) down the valley. Need
less to say, he was impressed (n tired because it took us about an hour
each way n he will have his 81 Bday in less than 90 days). Funny, I have
been here once before n was terrified than as today. I am not scared of
heights, I have this stupid desire Jump, goofy, I agree, but I have always
head this phobia. This mental short coming of mine really reared it's ugly
head when I owned a hot air balloon a in the mid 80s because you fly a
balloon standing. Ironically, 99% of the time I feel totally comfortable
flying my CH-7 Angel, but I am sitting n strapped in. However, once as
I was at 2,500 feet (770m) AGL n climbing making wide orbits around a friend's
hot air balloon in my Angel, I actually heard this "little voice" saying
"You built this your self, what the F are are you doing up this high",
so I guess 2,500 AGL is the highest I have eve been in Nina....
