Today 22 Jan 99 Glenn and I travelled to Torrance to visit the Robinson Helicopter Facility.
Our first sight was Frank Robinson about to exit the facility to take lunch with a class of engineers taking the factory maintenance training course. We tackled him for the picture provided. It's always nice to meet talented Helicopter people like Mr Robinson and Mr Ci Care'.I don't think Glenn nor I were prepared to receive quite the impressive experience we did of these facilities being 260,000' sq employing 600+. Imaculately clean, organised and thoroughly proffessional operation, an absolute must visit should one get the chance.
High lights had to be the machining, blade manufacturing, wirring loom bay, and of course the finished products. 11 ships a week  go out the gates. The only dissapointment is that they are camera shy and no camera's or video's were allowed inside the factory until the finished product area. Glenn's Nicon Coolpix itched within it's holster. We are dissapointed we can not provide you with some of the impressive sights that we saw today. If your a rotor head as sick as us look forward to the day you get there.

On the Van Nuys field we also saw a B105 come in with the DEA and we took some photo's of two S64 Sky Cranes (I ve always wanted to see).
23 Jan 99 Glenn and I will be visiting Jack Pellett another Ch7 Angel owner for the inorgaral gathering of Ch7 Angel owners in North America. Jack's aircraft is of particular interest as he has been installing a Solar T62 Turbine and we hope that by this time tommorrow you'll be informed of his progress as we believe his facilitie may allow the use of camera's

NB:Please refrain from sending Glenn large email packages as he is not at home and we spent 30 minutes downloading email on our hotel long distance phone line, but don't refrain from sending him a contribution as I personally know he spends a lot of money and time servicing this website (remember he's married and has to answer to a non helicoptering finacial, social controller). I believe this is a great site, Glenn is a very generous and helpful kind of guy ready to help any rotorhead. The other way to repay Glenn for all his personal commitment to this helicopter site is to send in any information and or experience you have with helicopters, especially helicopters in action,ie. lifting, spraying, powerline maintenance, vietnam memorabilia photo's etc.

21 Jan 99 My good friend Glenn Ryerson arrived in at LAX to visit with me and we wasted no time in dicussion of our favorite topic the helicopter. Glenn met me in LAX as I had arrived a month ago here in Van Nuys with the Royal New Zealand  Airforce aboard a Beachcraft Kingair B200 to carry out a major Avionics Refit at IFR Avionics on the Van Nuys Field. We left Auckland NZ on 11 Dec 98 Flew  across the pacific to Samoa then onto Christmas Island, to Kona Hawaii (Great place,Great time) and then onto Van Nuys LA. on 13 dec 98
Sorry Great time no photos camera over exposed film. (going digital) Going to buy a coolpix for the 11 day flight down the otherside to home.
Back and settled in the Airtel Plaza hotel and Glenn's laptop cranked up, we were into the goodies: photo's from Agusto Ci Care' and families visit. Glenn went to enormous lengths in the entertainment of our highly asteamed helicopter Icon. Buying a Murcury Van for their stay, taking them to Steam Town Pensilvania, New York to visit the Intrepard Aircraft Carrier museum, Statue of liberty, and surrounding sights. To Florida, to the Cape to show the NASA facility.
Two years Priorly I had been to Oshkosh and visited the Cape (a Lifetime Goal fullfilled) I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the Apollo programe memorabilia, which is just something else, and I bet Augusto and his boys enjoyed this treat as well. The obvious next delight was you gest it Disney World for a couple days for Mucho Enjoyment.
Then Glenn and Damaris took the Ci Care' Family and visited Miami south beach before returning home via Washington DC. where they had a chance sighting off monica's ex squeeze travelling into the White House which pleased Augusto emencely. They visited the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. Home for a breather and some fine on Glenn's Angel Nina. Prior to the Ci Care's departure Glenn took them to one of the most important places, another helo nut must, (Where Glenn had treated me on my stay with him two years previously)
The American Helicopter Museum in Philidelphia. Where Augusto was very warmly welcomed and enjoyed himself emencely. This is a cool place, the R-4, Bell 30, Piasecki, Hiller air jeep etc.
