SHnPGIE,

A few more pictures, I'm getting airborne in a couple of  hours to shoot some PR photo's for a new magazine, we'll be doing air to air of  the Skycrane, Bell 212 & Dromeda.

The fire season here is winding down, and the Skycrane leaves at the end of the week.  I'll be using one of my JetRangers, hope I'll keep up. The other shots were from my BK117 & that was working hard alongside the Skycrane.  Powerful bugger!

I'm in Melbourne, but I've a base in Sydney & Brisbane, but I don't get there too often.

Cheers,

John Eacott

The SkyCrane large detachable water tank full, here we C the massive chopper in a max performance T/O at close to gross, what a muscle man.
..

Note how even in a extremely large chopper as the SkyCrane, the tank/weight is mounted
and centered directly under the MR..
,

Just behind the two pilots U will note a read facing cockpit. The SkyCrane was designed to give the winch operator a unobstructed rear view for the precision placcement of equipment. I am sure this has at least saved many a Crane pilot from a sour neck at the end of the day.

..
Here the SkyCrane is approaching the fire.

.
All of a sudden the tank doors are opened.

And a massive pinpoint deluge is dropped on the fire.

Thank You John

I do not know much/anything about the SC. If you do, flew one or crewed one in "the Nam" or perhaps you are one of the pilots/crew for this bird,
please eM me with some good stuff to add here.......
