Glenn / SHnPGIE,

This is Greg Lassa again, from Chicago...hope you had a great time in the islands..

The "Russian" Helo you have pictured is actually a Polish built MIL-2 or "Mee-Dva" Phonetically, carrying German Police colors and registration. This  most probably happened after the reuniting of East and West.  To your credit it does come from the Russian MIL design bureau.

I spent two and a half years in Poland and actually toured the Swidnik factory( near Lublin).  There are some great  ships over there, the "FALCON" or SOKOL being the latest to the world market...I have quite a bit of info if you would  care for more...

How bout some ice cream??

I don't know much about this one either.
I do remember my favorite high school teacher, Walter Melnikof mentioning to us in civics class some 35+ years ago that the USSR may be ahead of the USA in helicopter technology mainly due to the size of their country combined with a lack of a thurall highway system causing a larger need in the USSR for helicopters then the US.

Obviously since I remember that casual statement made some 35 years ago, I must have been a rotor head then as now.

Obviously a twin turbine with twin long distance outboard tanks.

What may not be obvious to some, the Russians spin their blades as do the French. Un like all but the Rotor Way (I think) in the US spin their bladed where the right blade advances n the Russians have the left blade advancing.

As U C, no enponage, I wonder why not?

If U have some first hand info in this bird, please beam it over n I will up date this page n post your info here for SHnPGIE's readers.

Thank You,
SHnPGIE
