This is the main transmission in the process of being assembled after inspection and installation of new bearings. The transmission housing is made from cast aluminium. The main helical gear mounts to the gear hub and is supported on the top with a tapered roller bearing and a radial bearing on the bottom.

This photo shows the assembled transmission with the addition of the main drive pulley. The main drive pulley also serves as the autorotation clutch and is driven directly from the engine via a single 5 groove belt specially designed for the Angel by the Goodyear tire company.
