Before getting starting with mounting the boom, It is necessary to level
the helicopter so that the boom, tail rotor driveshaft, and all the other
mechanics can be perfectly aligned. To do this I bought 4 brackets at the
local hardware store and tapped holes in them for adjustment screws. In
this way, very small changes can be made to get the helicopter in perfect
level.
Here's a picture of the mast once all the leveling adjustments had
been made. I'm using the Pro 3600 digital level which seems to work extremely
well. This same level, I've found, seems to be marketed by several companies.
Mine is from SPI but Mitutoyo also makes the same level. If you get one,
make sure you get the Pro 3600 model and not the 360. The 3600 has much
more resolution which is needed to get the mechanics in perfect alignment.

Here's a picture of the drive pulley. It also measures correctly at the
0.00 degree mark after leveling.
