Calling all L.A.-Area Whirly-Girls!
Mark your calendar:
First Local Mini-Hovering
June 28, 2003, 1-4 p.m.
Long Beach Airport, AirFlite (see location details at the bottom)
-- Fly in or drive. CFI’s: Make it a cross-country flight with a female student! --
You remember it all too well: You worked mighty hard to achieve your ratings, whether long ago or recently. Some of us no longer fly, some only occasionally, and many have active careers in aviation. But each of us is still the proud holder of a unique Whirly-Girl number, and each has something to share with the others about flying and life in general. Come share what life has taught you.
This is a great opportunity --
? Re-ignite your enthusiasm for helicopter flying, even if just from
the sidelines
? Encourage -- or be encouraged by -- other WGs
? Maybe pick up a lead on job opportunities
? Learn an essential nugget of wisdom about flying in our very complicated
airspace
? Meet a potential instructor for additional training or a new a student
? Make new friends and have fun
Our goal is to make friends with others of the still-rare breed of women who fly helicopters, offer support to those newer to the field, learn from each other, and to laugh a lot. Bring a future Whirly-Girl to meet other women pilots. We may even get one of our member-CFI’s to volunteer to give us an airspace refresher or TFR awareness training for our next gathering.
Our first meeting of the LA-area Whirly-Girls is hosted by Whirly-Girls President Lisa Brand Di Giovanna (#740) and Jen McSkimming (#1040). Jen is also a consultant for PartyLite candles and has offered do a candle presentation to raise money for the Whirly-Girls. She will donate 100% of her profits of anything participants choose to buy to the Whirly-Girls.
Please RSVP to Jen McSkimming by June 21st. To RSVP, ask questions,
or volunteer to bring your favorite snack food, contact her at JenEMc@aol.com
or 310-493-4948.
