.
Today (Saturday, Jan 23rd, 1999) Simon Clark (a CH-7 Angel owner, builder n pilot) n I visited Jack Pellett. What an interesting day we both had. Jack says he is about a month away from first flight of his turbine powered Angel. To date this is the single largest meeting of CH-7 Angel Owners n Pilots in North America. Since there is only 3 varied Angels in the USA n only a strong rumor of a 4th also being in the LA area, obviously it is not difficult to have a few pilots/owners n still be the largest meet to date.
.
As you may know, I/SHnPGIE has been following Jack's progress via the fotos he has sent in on two different occasions. I had always wanted to C Jack's bird in person n had hoped to be there on it's first flight...... Well, as it ended up, I was there too early :( but to my surprise, what Simon n I saw today sitting in Jacks garage was easily twice as impressive as we anticipated.
.
Jack has taken what was first just a great little helicopter, added his 30 years n 18,ooo hours experience as BOTH a pilot and a A&P helicopter mechanic and transformed his craft into a beautiful, both in appearance n technological masterpiece.
.
I am impressed with the quality of the Nikon CoolPix's digital fotos on SHnPGIE, but they do not do justice to what Simon n I saw today. Jack's is as close to perfection as one can get, his attention to detail on all the hand crafted parts he has both designed n built is extremely impressive. So impressive, I actually caught my self mentioning to Jack today that after Cing his Angel, I do not like my Angel any where near as I did just prior to my visit.
.
Simon n I both will be composing the next few pages on Jack's bird. My intentions are to only have 3 fotos on each page in order to help speed up the down loading of the fotos. I hope you don't mind, but Jack's craftsmanship does not deserve to be hidden by a tinny foto.
Jack Pellett, his LOVELY Turbine Powered Angel n Simon Clark
.

The attention to detail Jack has done on his Angel is inspiring to say the least. Not only has he adapted a power plant any one would be proud to have spinning their blades, in my book, he is a TOTAL innovative perfectionist that only a casual stroll around his bird will completely attest to.
Jack's collective sits itching to be raised for it's first flight.
I must candidly say, after meeting a 30 year/18,000 hour pilot A&P Mechanic professional like Jack Pellett n knowing he picked the same helicopter (out of all the ones available in 1994, one similar one that was $10,000 less n selling like hot cakes) that I picked gives me both renewed confidence n admiration for my CH-7 Angel.
