Does any one know any thing about the Rotax 401 used on a Ski-Doo snow
mobile in the 70's and 80's? I bought a Ski-Doo thinking I could use the
Rotax to power a G-1 and possibly use
the centrifigul cluth/belt reduction unit as well . The motor is in
good shape and I figured I would do an overhaul before I took the chopper
beyond tethered test flights. I am an an industrial mechanic by trade,
but I am an aviation enthusiast and a hobby machinist as well. I rcently
switched back to this carrer which has given me more money and free time.
I originally thought of building a fixed wing ultralight, but because of
space constraints and my desire to utilize my lathe and mill, the G-1 seemed
like a perfect project. Now I am not so sure. Has the
G-1A flown at this point? I would love any news on the progress of
it. I am also curios to know if the horizontal/vertical rule
stated earlier applies to 2cyl. 2strokes. Obviosly it would be easier to
mount the engine vertically rather than horizontally, but not at the cost
of significant engine life. You have a great web site and you can be sure
I will contribute to it's continued existance
Thanks, Frank & Ruby Knox
I hope you are kidding about everyone giving you a dollar for the website.
Your begging skills are worse than your spelling! You must be the poorest
person on earth not to be able to pay for a website. I say dump the
website NOW.
Thank you for your eM to SHnPGIE Mr. nameless.
Feel free to never visit this site again.
Also, please send over the URL address for your web site, I would like to experience your perfection.

Thank you for your eM to SHnPGIESuch a gentleman U R Alfred........................

Alfred's reply on Friday the 9th of March
To all the people complaining about my eM to Glenn: It was a note to
him, not intended to be on "new stuff." He did not post the apology that
followed, I notice. I actually did think it was 1998 having just
come down off of some bitchin' acid that I dropped last week. There is
no further need to pepper me with messages calling me "skid kicker" and
other colorful terms. The website is doomed ; that is the real problem.
It takes a lot of time to keep the material fresh and interesting and after
so many years and after losing his own helicopter, the fire has gone out.
I would send photos of the Helicycle, but have nothing new for now.
With the warmer weather
coming I think you will start to see a lot of builders catching up
on construction. My blades arrived a while ago. They require some work
by the builder.(bonding on the doublers at the root) Still waiting to get
the fuel system, instruments, clutch, engine mounts, radiator, etc. Expect
to have it all come together in a few months. I got my helo ticket and
am ready to rock and roll. Most builders have yet to get their training.
I found a simulator helpful when learning and designed a set of helo controls
for the PC.

SH/Glenn's 2 cents. Yes I did not post his apology, I am 1000% guilty, it was short n it went almost exactly like this "my apologies, I got carried away with my bad boy humour". I simply didn't post it because I felt a tiny apology was not sincere after a paragraph of complaint. N Yes, SHnPGIE may just die due to lack if interest n contributions (I don't mean just monitory contributions either) and nasty complaints don't help much either........
Any one have any idea on the progress of the HeliCycle

Hi Glen,
BJ should be finishing up the First production run in about a Month.
He is also building a Factory ship which will be done soon.
I'm sure Homer should have his flying before his show and Mentone.
I haven't seen any recent pictures.

I WISH PEOPLE WOULD SEND INFO ON THEIR HELICYCLE'S IN TO THIS SITE AS A LOT OF THEM MUST BE SO CLOSE TO COMPLETION.
A STEP BY STEP PROGRESS OF THEIR WORK WOULD BE OF GREAT INTEREST AND MAY KEEP THE SITE GOING.
LOTS OF PEOPLE VISIT THE SITE BUT NO ONE IS CONTRIBUTING.

back. The author Bob Mason tells how he almost washed out of pre flight
school but was allowed to take the "Hell Month" over again (6o days of
Hell Month) and almost a year later earned his wing as a Warrant
Officer. He tells how he and many other set up one of the first Air Cavalry
Divisions (perhaps the first, I can't remember). Any way, I enjoyed
Bob's book so much I have actually read 3 times so far and most likely
will again. It is a great book for any one fascinated with the whirling
wing/helicopter and or VietNam helicopter aviation. If you are forgetful
like me, you can enjoy it 3 times for only $8.76 thru Amazon.com. Click

was the first human to break the sound barrier. But the story that leads
up to him being in the right place at the right time and having "the Right
Stuff" is equally as interesting as his mach 1 story. If I remember correctly
(I read this one a few years back n only once) this book also starts out
when Chuck was a young man on a farm, following him thru Army flight school,
a W.W.II P51 pilot in Europe and back to Murrock/Eedwards AF Base, retiring
a Air Force Brig. General....... Great human aviation story, great W.W.II
story and great aviation history story all rapped up in one book for just

You
may have seen the movie or perhaps the segment on 6o minuets or 2o/2o type
TV show recently. What a story that starts with a grope of young soccer
players on a twin engine turbo prop plane flying thru the Andes in Chili
South America and does not make it. I do not want to give it a way, but
is is a great story and just keeps on coming and coming as you turn the
page. Once again, I read this one a few years ago and with my memory, I
will take it with me on my next long airline flight and read/enjoy it all
over.

and as yet have not read it. Due to my busy life in the summer trying to

it. Fire Birds is only $5.20 thru Amazon.com. Click

Low

Pilot (Hugh 5oo) in the Big Red One. If I remember correctly, a Scout primary
job it to flies low to draw fire/expose the Viet Cong (VC) from the position
for the orbiting Cobras over head.
