Project

Allen Grimpe of Orlando
Florida recently purchased a Rotor Way 162F and has graciously offered
to send SHnPGIE a series of fotos along with a brief explanation
detailing his progress. So as time goes by, we should end up having
an entire foto essay from box to first flight and more.
I would like to take a moment to thank Allen for including the world's
HoverLovers in his dream by sharing it with SHnPGIE..... At-A-Boy Al, lookin
good.......
Allen's kit arrived on March 6th, 1998. As you will see by the
below fotos, he is not letting any dust accumulate on any of the parts
because he seems to be in high gear.
.
Allen's RW 162F arrived in eight large, barely moveable wooden
boxes. Here you see the beginnings of what one day will become a sexy helicopter.
However now Allen's helicopter is just a dream in pieces just sitting in
the back of the 24 foot U-Haul truck all crated up on the way home from
the shipping company to his Orlando Florida home in the good old USA.
.
Here you see Allen's landing gear taking shape on his 162F.
Note the nice pink rug on the floor his wife donated to the project
just so Allen doesn't have to lie on the cold and damp floor as he works
on his bird from below.
.
Allen's parts are starting to look like a helicopter,
the air frame in now mounted to the landing gear and the ground transport
wheels are mounted to the skids so he can move it around in his shop (garage)?.
.
Here you see the proud papa him self adjusting an engine support
bushing on the frame.
.
In this foto Al has now dissembled his air frame after insuring
the fit before painting..
